Manage Your Medications

Prescription drug abuse often begins at home in the family medicine cabinet. In fact, 53% of the teens in Sumner County who admitted to using prescription medications to got “high” in 2013 say they got the drugs from home, a relative, or friend at no cost.

Here’s are a three ways where you can make a difference:

  1. Count your pills every two weeks.  This will prevent theft and ensure that medications are taken properly.

  2. Lock up your medications and store them in a place others would not think to look

  3. Drop off unused and expired medications for proper disposal at your participating law enforcement department.

Keep your family, friends, and home safer by following these three commonsense steps to secure medications in your home.
